Advanced technologies driving
the evolution of toughness
An answer has been found to the unlimited toughness
toward which G-SHOCK continues its persistent evolution.
It is the ideal of robustness, functionality and operability
combined with absolute toughness.
This ideal is the source of the toughness
G-SHOCK is seeking.
TOUGHNESS
Shock Resistance
Core technologies supporting G-SHOCK’s pursuit of toughness
Hollow case structure
The proprietary case structure leading to the birth of the first G-SHOCK
Based on a realization that “shocks are not transmitted inside a bouncing rubber ball,” the structure was designed to let the module float inside the case, relieving shocks transmitted from outside. Today, the module’s shock resistance is realized through further technical innovations. But the revolutionary tough structure that gave G-SHOCK its origin began here.
All-directional covering
If the watch is dropped, the protruding bezel fully enclosing it absorbs the shock, protecting the buttons directly connected to the module and alleviating shocks from all directions. The bezel also guards the surface of the crystal. The band is curved stiffly at the point of connection with the case, moreover, enabling it to serve as a shock absorber and prevent direct shocks to the back of the case.
Protective cushioning of key parts
The crystal oscillator and other critical parts inside the module are guarded individually by cushioning material. Any strong shock to the watch causes immediate distortion of the cushioning inside the module, preventing contact failure and malfunction.
Original square design (5000/5600 series)
We retained the original G-SHOCK’s square design while at the same time pursuing universal utility in everything from the internal design, including the module structure and LCD, to such exterior design features as the materials, size and shape. The proud original shape has been passed down without change through the 5000/5600 series as a symbol of G-SHOCK.
- SHAPE Perfectly balanced form that doesn’t interfere in any way with wearing
- DESIGN Minimalist design with impeccable shock resistance
- SIZE LCD with 16:10 aspect ratio, close to the human viewing angle
TOUGHNESS
200m Water Resistance
Reliable water-resistance specifications in preparation
for use under a wide range of conditions
20-bar water resistance
You can wear your G-SHOCK in all sorts of situations, from working with water in daily life and taking a shower to participating in water activities such as swimming, surfing or jet skiing.
ISO standard 200 m diving water resistance (FROGMAN)
With its stainless-steel case constructed to resist high water pressure and its highly airtight screw back, it conforms to the ISO-specified water-resistance standards for use in scuba diving.
TOUGHNESS
Triple G Resist
A tough structure built to withstand the three main types of gravitational acceleration: dropping shocks, centrifugal force and vibrations
Shock-resistant structure
A hollow case structure protecting the module from external shocks, cushioning of key parts inside the module, cushioning protection from direct shocks by a unique case-and-bezel form, and an all-directional guard structure to mitigate impacts are all combined in a structure built to resist dropping shocks.
Centrifugal gravity resistance
Watch hands that are required to move in an environment of strong centrifugal gravity are liable to rotate due to their own weight, which may cause breakage. We therefore calculated the weight balance of each hand with precision and arranged It optimally. The result is stable hand movement, even under conditions of strong gravitational pull.
Centrifugal gravity resistance
We realized the ability to withstand centrifugal forces exceeding the highest level (centrifugal gravity up to 15 G) classified by the ISO 2669 steady-state acceleration environmental test for aircraft equipment. The results confirm that the various functions operate normally under conditions of extreme centrifugal gravity.
Vibration-resistant structure
αGEL (Alpha GEL)* is packed around the module as an insulator to absorb vibrations and prevent damage and malfunctions resulting from violent vibrations. Aluminum band washers and O-rings are inserted to prevent the screws that connect the band to the case from loosening due to vibrations.
* αGEL: A soft gel-like material with silicone as its main raw material characterized by superior shock-absorption capabilities.
Vibration resistance testing
Testing is conducted by a testing machine that generates vibrations with various magnitudes and speeds of amplitude. Vibration resistance performance is confirmed by the Vibration Testing Methods for Automobile Parts (JIS D1601 4 type A) with reference to the grade (vibration acceleration up to 20 G) required for in-vehicle devices for two-wheeled vehicles.

ACCURACY | FUNCTION
Smartphone Link
Coordination with a smartphone using Bluetooth® communication realizes timekeeping accuracy and easy operation simultaneously.
Automatic Time Adjustment
The smartphone connects with the watch automatically 4 times a day and corrects the time. When traveling across time zones, you can display the current local time with one push of a button. You can also use the app to check time-related regulations such as changes in time zones and the start and end of Daylight Savings Time in regions around the world and add them to the watch’s internal data. The correct time based on the latest time information is always displayed.
Accurate Time System
This advanced time correction system acquires time data from an Internet-based server anywhere in the world and combines it with time information from a proprietary Casio database to determine the precise current time.
Easy watch setting
Watch functions that can be managed easily on the smartphone app include World Time city setting (over 300 cities), Home Time/World Time display switching and alarm/timer setting. This means you can use a variety of convenient functions at will without touching any buttons on the watch.
* Settable functions vary depending on the model.
ACCURACY | FUNCTION
GPS signal reception
Acquires positioning and time information from GPS satellites. Analyzes the current time zone and Daylight Saving Time data and displays the correct time.
Quick display of the correct time anywhere in the world
— Acquires information on your current position and time from GPS satellites.
— Automatically analyzes the time zone based on your positioning information.
— Determines the Daylight Saving Time status of your current location and displays the accurate time automatically.
— Connects with GPS satellites in as little as 3 seconds. Time correction is complete in a minimum of 7 seconds.
— Also supports once-a-day automatic reception.
Unique GPS algorithm
Use of positioning data from GPS satellites and data from a high-resolution map divided into a grid with units measuring about 500 m enables users to determine locations more accurately.
In addition, use of a single-variable data analysis method to group areas in the same time zone that share the same Daylight Saving Time regulations makes it possible to establish time differences with greater speed and accuracy.
ACCURACY | FUNCTION
Radio wave reception
(Multiband6)
A built-in miniature antenna conducts high-sensitivity reception of standard time radio waves carrying time information and corrects the time automatically.
Indoor or outdoor radio wave reception
— Compatible with standard time radio wave transmissions in Japan (2 stations), North America, the UK, Germany and China.
— Receives radio waves and displays the correct time indoors.
* In places such as the vicinity of windows where radio wave reception is easy
— Keeps the correct time at night with automatic reception (up to 6 times).
— Achieves reception with lower power consumption.
Shock-resistant miniature antenna
A tiny shock-resistant antenna constructed of an amorphous material achieves high-sensitivity reception of standard time radio waves carrying time information.
Reliability that enables stable radio wave reception from any of 6 stations worldwide is realized simultaneously with the robustness required to handle rough treatment under the most rugged conditions.
